We grow food at The Tropical Grower which is always tricky for us here in tropical zones. Fall planting is in September. To say things got delayed causes a deep chuckle to roll around in my belly while I write this. We were planting deep into October, successive plantings in November due to Hurricane Ian.

Yes, I declared breaks from the necessary righting plants and trees for planting days. We had flooding. There were lots of bugs. And, we were tired from clean-up. Ugh. Nevertheless, we do have food.     Carrots – Scarlet Nantes. I grow these successfully in a 5 gallon pot which had tarzan vines woven as a basket around it. Underwater after the storm, the vines disintegrated. Dang.

    Orange Tree. It’s the bushy thing in the fence corner. These are the most non-acidic oranges I’ve ever had.

    Seville Orange Tree. Bitter Orange. Yup, you make neroli oil from it. Tastes somewhat like a lemon. We use it as a lemon substitute sometimes.
